The secondry preacher stands at the borderline between the two worlds. Note that he turns his eyes to the light and away from the chaos of the bare tit -a competing focal point for the book- other nudity, cannibalistic boned nose, ect. "Civilized" order competes with "heathen" chaos in the depiction of natives with just enough order in the "heathen" to raise hope.<br />The picture is designed like a true confession story. "Good" struggles to penetrate "evil" by titilation and shock, a fantasy supported by imaginative construction.
